I just got this bike for my son 4th birthday. It's a functional bike since you can remove the training wheels and the push handle, and adjust the seat height. So far,I'm happy with this bike. However, the water bottle stinks with plastic. It's better to throw out that cup and use a better quality cup, you don't want your child to drink the chemical coming from that cheap thing. Happy purchase and a great deal with free shipping.

I thought I'd let people know about this style of bike since there are no reviews on it yet. I have one in Australia that is identical (the brand is Xero), and it is a great thing to have the steerable parent handle, as I can take my 2.5 year old on it even though she has not mastered peddling. The handle turns the front wheel. We can push it along sidewalks similarly to the push tricycles - I see it as a great next step from those. The handle comes off easily so you can put it in your car. Otherwise, it is the same as any other 12" bike. Being Schwinn I think it is safe to assume the quality is similar to the one I have. These bikes are a little more common in Sydney (even though they are twice as much). I'm just putting 4 stars on it because I haven't seen this particular one in person. I hope this will help you decide until other reviews come in.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Fantastic Bike that Grows with Your Child, January 10, 2012

We were wondering if we should get a tricycle or a bicycle for our 2 year old boy initially and chanced upon this bike on amazon. It is an excellent purchase for us.

1) The bike is sturdy and does not topple easily.
2) The push handle allows parents to steer the bike if needed. This is really a "plus plus" point for parent with a young kid.
3) The height of the seat can be adjusted and training wheels and the push handle can be removed once the child can cycle on his own.

Our boy is in the 50th percentile in terms of height and he can easily put his legs on the pedals. We need to push him a little with the handle bar but he has started to pedal as soon as his second attempt on his bike. Right now, he tries to stand on the pedals occasionally imitating grown ups. With a helmet and proper guidance, it is a safe and excellent bike for a child to pick up proper cycling skills.

Overall, we are please with the bike. It is easy to assemble and was... Read more
