5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing Product!, May 22, 2011

I just bought one of these and had the same problem with it seemingly not taking a charge, however I found a fix. Apparently the batteries come completely uncharged and the electronics don't seem to recognize you are in fact charging the batteries. When you plug it in the instructions say it should flash red continuously, but the first time you charge it the batteries take a long time to charge and initially the display is green. After 3 hours or so mine changed from green to flashing red. Then after another 4 hours it was green. As an electronic engineer who designs battery chargers for a living, this is completely unacceptable indication for me and anyone else who reads the instructions. It's also counter-intuitive to display green before flashing red, then go back to green. Luckily it only does it the first charge, but may do it again if the battery ever becomes extremely discharged. I've relayed my comments to their customer support and hopefully they make a change going... Read more

5.0 out of 5 stars Makes training wheels obsolete!, February 7, 2011
By
Kellym "Kelly" (Northern California) - See all my reviews
My daughter had been on training wheels for years - she's eight now. Last year I took the training wheels off her bike and tried to get her to just glide around. Then I worked with her on gentle slopes, ran with her on as she tried to find balance and did everything I could to encourage bike riding with no success. She feared falling so much I couldn't even get her to try any longer. Her bike sat in the garage for months. Then came along the 16" Gyrowheel this last Christmas. We charged it up and put it on her 16" bike, which at this point was too small for her, but that's what the Gyrowheel fit. She rode around the school yard and within 15 -20 minutes she got the hang of it. We rode around for at least another couple of hours and finally the Gyrowheel's batteries gave out, but it didn't matter since she was riding all by herself. This thing works!!! The next weekend we lent it to a neighbor whose 8 year-old daughter had the same fear and balance issues as my child and in ONE... Read more

5.0 out of 5 stars Great product, great customer service, January 10, 2011
I've never been compelled to write a product review, but I did want to share my Gyrobike experience. We bought one of the first gyrobike wheels and immediately put our 3.5 year old on the thing. After 3 tries he was riding on his own and after about 2 weeks we took the wheel off, as he didn't need it anymore. Fast forward about a year and we pulled the wheel out to find that it was warped and unusable. I called Gyrobike, but wasn't feeling very good about the warranty, as it said the product had a "90 day warranty". They responded pretty quickly and, after showing them the issue, they promptly replaced the product. My guess is that we had one of the original production lots and they might have been working out kinks, as I know several others with the wheel who have never had problems. Given the speed with which the wheel teaches a child to bike + their excellent customer service, I highly recommend this wheel.
