When a little boy gets too big for a 20" wheeled bike the Octane 24 is the way to go. The heat treated aluminum frame will hold up to the trials of childhood while the 40mm suspension fork will make heading down the dirt paths much more fun. Add in both front and rear twist shifters and he will have lots of gears to experiment with. The linear pull front and rear brakes will make stopping easy. Mostly mountain bikes, but some racers and lots of kids bikes 2) Bought this for my step-son - good interim position for a tall and rapidly growing nine year old before moving to a small framed mountain bike. The box arrival. ---------------- a) The box arrives. Looks as normal like you would have it shipped to a bike shop from a wholesaler, who basically get it in the same state that it arrives from the factory (usually from Taiwan/PRC as with 90% of all the bikes made on the planet by volume - even well known brands) b) Opening the box - the same pathetic packing as you would expect from a cheap mass produced bike. To the extent of the same cheap thin cardboard rather than foam pipe covering the tubes. This is ok, as (luckily) my particular bike is unmarked. It was missing all tools and hardware bits, and the reflectors.This bike arrived the day before my son's birthday, but my husband and father-in-law spent most of the day shopping for missing tools and parts (listed as included in the parts list) so that our son could have it on his 8th birthday. This was a complete maddening waste of time. Amazon Customer Service: try as I might, I can't find any 800# to call you. There is no WAY this bike should have been sold without stating it was missing things, sale or no sale. Some kind of disclosure should have been made to missing parts. FAIL. Bike Quality: it is a good bike, definitely middle of the road bike, not low-end. Buy it somewhere else. |
